The H225 (previously named the EC225) offers the industry's best speed, range, payload and reliability in an 11-ton-category twin-turbine rotorcraft. As the newest member of Airbus Helicopters' Super Puma family, the H225 benefits from the application of proven technology and the experience of a worldwide customer base.

Equipped with two powerful Turbomeca Makila 2A turbine engines, a sturdy five-blade main rotor and Spheriflex rotor head, the H225 offers long range and fast cruise speeds, along with flight endurance that exceeds 5 h. and 30 min.
Airbus Helicopters' Super Puma family - in which the H225 is the latest member - has accumulated more than 4.3 million flight hours during operations around the world and in all weather conditions, including highly challenging maritime environments.

The H225 offers comfort for both passengers and crew. Its wide air-conditioned cabin comfortably accommodates up to 19 passengers on energy-absorbing seats in staggered configurations, allowing for more shoulder space between passengers. Low vibration and sound levels further enhance the well-being aloft, giving the impression of flying in a commercial jetliner.

Pilots are assisted by the H225's modern cockpit, with electronic instruments for flight information and system monitoring. Outstanding precision and stability are provided by its 4-axis, dual-duplex autopilot, with the automatic flight control system handling automatic approaches as well as search and rescue patterns, along with fully automatic hovering.
The rotorcraft's integrated maintenance architecture with HUMS (Health Usage Monitoring System) conduct data recording and proactive monitoring for flight safety enhancement. Airbus Helicopters' First Limit Indicator displays the available power in any condition, along with the power margin in AEO (all engines operative) and OEI (one engine inoperative) situations.

State-of-the-art avionics and auto-pilot systems reduce crew workload while enhancing safety through significant advances in human-machine interface.
The H225 is certified for flights in icing conditions, and incorporates a self-deployable emergency floatation device and a traffic collision and avoidance system linked to the autopilot.
In the event of an emergency, large windows push out easily to allow fast egress and efficient access to integrated life rafts. The H225's safety standards also include a 30-minute run-dry gearbox.

Based on the Super Puma family's service experience around the globe, Airbus Helicopters has developed the H225's maintenance program to offer greater flexibility for scheduling inspections.
This lets operators forecast their costs more precisely and better manage their flight activity. As a result, the number and the type of inspections are reduced, different operations can be grouped together and performed on fixed dates, and periodic inspections can occur less frequently, among other benefits.
Concerning the onboard avionics, the number of built-in tests and accompanying documentation allow operators to perform trouble-shooting themselves without the need for specific tooling.

Oil & gas transportation
Approximately 70 percent of the worldwide Super Puma fleet is operated for personnel transport in support of the offshore oil & gas industry, including H225s in the Gulf of Mexico, the North Sea, Africa, Asia and South America.
Combining the ability to carry 19 passengers in its air-conditioned cabin with its heavy-lift capacity and excellent range, the H225 meets the energy industry's needs as exploration and production moves farther offshore.
Moreover, the aircraft's role change capacity enables a rapid reconfiguration to over-water search and rescue (SAR) duties, benefitting from the wiring for SAR mission equipment.

Search and rescue

Airbus Helicopters' all-weather H225 is up to job, capable of handling all types of search and rescue duties. Whether operating in arctic or equatorial conditions, the H225 offers superior performance, safety, endurance and range. It provides an ideal platform for both survivors and crew with its low vibration levels and exceptional comfort.
Equipped with cutting-edge technology such as an automatic flight control system (AFCS), the H225 offers pilots everything they need at their fingertips to perform precise, safe and successful missions. The AFCS enables fully automatic transition to hover and highly precise hovering, among other benefits.

Aerial work
With superior lifting-power capacity, endurance and maneuverability, the H225 is always ready for the most rigorous aerial work missions. Thanks to the helicopter's state-of-the-art vehicle management system (VMS), pilots can concentrate fully on the mission ahead. During the transportation of sling loads, the 4-axis autopilot and landing gear design maintain exceptional stability.
Armed with powerful engines and hook capacity, the H225 makes heavy lifting easy, while certified equipment and proven procedures ensure the highest levels of safety. Typical missions include power line repair and insulator cleaning; pylon assembly in remote areas; cable-laying; aerial pruning; and air crane missions.

Private, business and governmental
Airbus Helicopters' Super Puma family has been selected for transportation of heads-of-state and corporate shuttles, benefitting from its large cabin, comfort and range. The H225 continues this tradition, while offering a higher speed, longer range and increased comfort. Vibration levels are significantly reduced with the new five-blade rotor and state-of-the-art active vibration control system, while comfort is further improved with enhanced soundproofing and air conditioning.
Interior layout possibilities include front and rear lounges, galleys and lavatories, along with food service galleys.

The H225's versatility and load-carrying capacity enables the helicopter to support fire ground units by delivering water with high precision. Airbus Helicopters' internal water tank for the H225 carries 4,000-liters - the largest capacity for a rotorcraft. For such missions, the H225 is equipped with a retractable pump to fill the tank in 90 seconds, even while operating from very shallow water. The water is released in four seconds, and this load can be deployed anywhere in the rotorcraft's full flight domain.
